Social Media Strategist

BRUNNER is an integrated marketing agency with a fast-paced, creative environment. We love big ideas and are looking to add new talent to our team and are searching for a Social Media Strategist to join our Social B team. 

As a member of a cross-functional team servicing client accounts, the Social Media Strategist is the key advisor on all social media channels and owned, paid and earned social media strategies and tactics. This person must demonstrate broad social media marketing experience. The social media strategist stays abreast of the rapid and constantly changing social media marketing landscape and actively participates in a wide variety of social media activities such as paid campaigns, community development and management, social content strategy and development, influencer programs, etc. The social media strategist must be able to think strategically, but be willing and able to roll up his/her sleeves to help implement social media programs for agency clients. 

The social media strategist is a storyteller, a tribe-builder, someone who knows how to connect with people in a real and genuine way and help them to be part of something big… and who also can change hats to analyze and leverage social media data, numbers and analytics.

This person recommends social media channels and paid and earned tactics appropriate for client marketing, and guides clients in adopting social media strategies. The social media strategist coaches clients, and agency staff, in how to participate in the social media conversation to help grow customer-brand relationships. This person also authors position and white papers on social media marketing for the agency.

As a social media strategist, this person servers as a mentor to junior social media strategists and community managers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates comprehensive social media strategies, defining programs that use social media marketing techniques to increase visibility, membership and traffic across all client brands.
  • Performs high-level industry-specific research, deconstructing relevant case studies and uncovering insights.
  • Collaborates with internal and external social media teams dedicated to social media activities.
  • Implements and manages social media programs, drafting strategic recommendations and participation guidelines for brands’ engagement in social networks.
  • Actively participates in client meetings; leads the presentation of social media strategies and tactics.
  • Assists in the new business process for obtaining and onboarding social media clients, including garnering and preparing insights, strategies and recommendations for writing social media portions of proposals and RFP responses.
  • Experiments with new and alternative ways to leverage social media activities (“marketing R&D”).
  • Monitors social media trends, tools and applications, and appropriately applies knowledge to increasing client use of social media.
  • Strategizes with and educates the client service team as well as clients on incorporating relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and into all company products and services.
  • Measures the impact of social media on overall marketing efforts.
  • Mentors junior social media strategists and community managers.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; at least 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to translate large amounts of data regarding a particular subject and to provide basic analysis and reasoning for trends.
  • Ability to review, comprehend, edit and proofread strategic technical documents and proposals for social media and digital services.
  • In-depth knowledge of integrated marketing and digital disciplines (including audience identification and analysis, blogger outreach, web development, social media, e-marketing, online analytics and the role of SEO in public relations.)
